Spruce Haven Recreation Area

Located at the corner of Shadd Drive and Spruce Haven Road
 Surrounded by large trees and connected to the
walking trails, Spruce Haven was bequeathed to the City of Melfort by the Howe’s family. With multiple activities to entertain the whole family, it is the perfect place to spend a full day and enjoy the outdoors.

The area comprises an accessible playground and splash park, a four diamond ball park, a 15,000 square foot skatepark, two regulation size soccer pitches, and an off leash dog park.  

In the park, you can also find a picnic area with three picnic shelters (available to rent), a community garden, the Creative Circle, a labyrinth, an outdoor ice surface, a fitness circuit, and access to water, washrooms, and R.V. waste disposal.

Note: Overnight camping is not permitted at Spruce Haven. Visit Campgrounds to learn more about camping opportunities in Melfort.

Surrounded by greenspace, park benches and picnic tables, the accessible playground and splash park is the perfect spot to pack a lunch and enjoy an afternoon while the little ones play and splash around.

Slash Park - OPEN for the season

A variety of spray features are easily activated by a hand sensor. But wait... the BIG BUCKET is always filling up, ready to tip over in one epic splash!

Open daily: 10:00am-8:00pm during the summer

(Typically, Mid-June to Mid-September weather permitting).

Picnic Shelter Rentals

Host your group meet up, birthday party, or family reunion at one of the three picnic shelters (two available with power) at Spruce Haven Park free of charge.

Melfort Kinsmen and Kinette Maude Burke Playground

Located at the corner of Broadway Ave South & Melfort Street West.

This playground features a large play structure with sand ground cover, a spray pad, and a number of benches and picnic tables.

Spray Pad

The spray pad is one of the two locations for the Playground ProgramWashrooms are available for public use during the hours of operation only.

Open Monday to Friday: 12:00pm-5:00pm (July & August)


Melfort Kinsmen and Kinette Brunswick Playground

Located at the corner of Brunswick Street & Bemister Ave East.

This playground features a play structure with sand ground cover, swing sets, a paddling pool, covered shelter, and a number of benches and picnic tables.

Paddling Pool

The paddling pool is one of the two locations for the Playground Program. A supervisor is always in attendance, but they are not a certified lifeguard. Washrooms are available for public use during the hours of operation only.

Open Monday to Friday: 12:00pm-5:00pm (July & August)


Rotary Park & Disk Golf

Located off Brunswick Street.

This park is home to a 9-hole disc golf course, a small play structure, walking paths, two covered shelters, and a number of benches and picnic tables.

Disk golf sets are available for use, visit the equipment loan program to learn more.


In the winter, enjoy some
cross country skiing on the groomed trails or tobogganing on the hill.


Melfort Elks & Royal Purple Stovel Park Playground

Located off Stovel Ave West.

This playground features a large play structure with sand ground cover, swing set, two pickleball courts, a covered shelter with washrooms, and a number of benches and picnic tables.

Pickleball sets are available for use, visit the equipment loan program to learn more.


Melfort Kinsmen and Kinette Melfort Creek Playground

Located off Park Avenue.

This playground features a large play structure with sand ground cover, swing sets, seesaw, and a number of benches and picnic tables.


Co-op Community Playground

Located at the corner of Alberta Street and Babington Ave East.

This playground features a large play structure, paved walking path, covered shelter, and a number of benches and picnic tables.


Former Broadway School

Located off Broadway Ave North between Crawford Ave West and Stovel Ave West.

This playground features a large greenspace space and playground structure with sand ground cover.


Campground Playground

Located at the Melfort Campgrounds.

School Playgrounds

Melfort is home to three elementary schools, Brunswick Elementary School, Reynolds Central School, and Maude Burke Elementary School. Each playground features a variety of play structures and equipment.


Greenspaces & Parks

Memorial Garden

Located off Main Street.

This memorial park honors Veterans and serves as a lasting legacy for community members. With a serene fountain, paved paths, a covered shelter, and benches, it’s an ideal place to gather, relax, and reflect.

Windsor Waterfowl Park

Located off South Ave.

A peaceful space for nature lovers, this park offers walking paths and the perfect setting to observe waterfowl and enjoy the natural landscape.


Melfort Reservoir

Located at the end of Reservoir Drive.

A hidden haven for the outdoor adventurer, this open body of water, connected to the Melfort Creek, is ideal for canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boarding.


Melfort Memorial Pond 

Picture, PictureLocated west of the City off Highway 41A and Melfort Street.

A perfect retreat for people of all ages, the trout pond allows you to enjoy some fishing without leaving the city.  


Other Hidden Greenspaces

Triangle Park

Located between Scotia Street, Crawford Ave East, and Bemister Ave East.

Secret Garden

Located off Main Street north of the Historic Post Office.

Dayna Brooke Park

Located at the end of Vickar Place.


Communities in Bloom

PictureFormed in 2004, Melfort Communities in Bloom have volunteered countless hours and engaged both residents and business to help make our community beautiful.

An integral part of the program is friendly competition between communities. Melfort CIB has won awards at the Provincial, National and International levels.

Some of their initiatives include the Veteran Banners Program, Fall Festival, decorating at Christmas, running a community garden, as well as planting flowers and maintaining garden beds throughout the City. For more information and updates, follow them on Facebook.

Commemorative Program

You can purchase items in memory of a loved one, to enhance or complement existing City parks, the cemetery or open spaces.

Items include park benches, trees, historical artifacts, art, items that City Council considers acceptable.
